The Getaway

Artist Statement:

Growing up in an agricultural environment, the importance of the land around us has been instilled in me from a young age. The Burren presents a convergence of farmland and sea that is totally foreign to me. I find within this convergence, a captivating beauty and harmony despite the influence of humans.

The process of taking the natural wool fibers, pressing, matting, and condensing them to produce a textile material gave me time to think and reflect. Each piece explores the relationship between the farmland and sea along with my own personal response to the area.
